Our uPVC Windows Melbourne Range

Our uPVC windows Melbourne range covers eight styles, each engineered for a specific role: energy efficiency, ventilation, acoustic performance, or heritage character. Click any style for full specs, configurations, and project photos.

Designed for Melbourne Conditions

Melbourne is one of Australia's most demanding climates for windows: freezing inland mornings, 40°C summer afternoons, salt-laden bay air, and bushfire zones across the eastern fringe. Every uPVC windows Melbourne installation we deliver is engineered specifically for these realities.

40°C Summer Heat

Low-E coatings reflect solar heat gain; argon-filled cavities resist conductive transfer. Inside stays cool without overworked aircon.

Coastal Salt Air

uPVC frames are immune to salt corrosion, essential for Mornington Peninsula, bayside, and coastal Melbourne suburbs.

BAL-40 Bushfire Zones

Our uPVC windows are tested and certified to BAL-40, suitable for the Dandenongs, Yarra Valley, and the eastern bushfire fringe.

Heritage Overlays

Colonial-bar styling and traditional sash configurations help homes under heritage overlays meet many council requirements. Final approval always rests with your local heritage authority.

NCC 2022 7-Star NatHERS

Standard double glazed builds satisfy the NCC 2022 7-star residential thermal code that came into effect in October 2023.

Made Local in Cheltenham

Manufactured 18 km south-east of the Melbourne CBD, with short lead times, on-site quality control, and Melbourne crews installing.

uPVC Frames: Deceuninck Legend Art Profile System

Our uPVC frames are extruded by Deceuninck, a Belgian profile manufacturer with over 80 years of window engineering. The new-generation Legend Art system is multi-chambered for thermal break, internally reinforced with galvanised steel, and rated for a 30+ year service life. Frames will not warp, rot, swell, or require painting. Deceuninck uPVC contains approximately 9% titanium dioxide by mass: the white pigment that prevents UV-induced yellowing and keeps the profiles dimensionally stable across decades of Australian sun.

Frame Colour Range

Legend Art frames are available in solid colours and woodgrain foils. Single-sided and dual-colour options are both available; you can have white internally and a darker external finish.

NewCream on White White Cream Silver Grey Anthracite Grey Ash Black Golden Oak Hazelnut

Dual-colour orders use one colour internally and another externally. Cream-on-white is our latest dual-colour combination: clean white inside, soft cream facade outside.

Glass & Glazing Options

Glass is the single biggest performance lever in any uPVC window. We supply six glass specifications across the range, and most Melbourne projects use a combination depending on orientation.

Standard Float

4 mm clear float glass, used in the inner pane of standard double glazed units. The cost-effective baseline.

Low-E Coated WR Standard

Microscopic metallic coating that reflects radiant heat. Improves U-value by ~25% and reduces summer heat gain. Included on all our DGUs.

Laminated Acoustic

Two glass layers bonded with a PVB interlayer. Specified for acoustic performance and added security.

Toughened Safety WR Standard

Heat-treated to 4× the strength of standard glass. Required by code for low sills, in all doors, and wet areas; included where the build code requires it.

Obscure / Privacy

Patterned or frosted finishes for bathrooms, ensuites, and street-facing rooms. Available in:

SatinliteCathedralSpotswoodAcid EtchedNarrowline ReededUltra Reeded

Argon Gas Fill WR Standard

Inert gas in the cavity reduces convection and improves U-value compared to a plain air fill. Standard on every Windows Republic DGU.

uPVC vs Aluminium vs Timber Frames

uPVC is the dominant residential window frame material in Europe (over 60% market share). It outperforms aluminium thermally and matches timber's thermal numbers without the maintenance burden. Here's how the three compare for Melbourne conditions.

MetricuPVCAluminium (TB)Timber
Frame U-value (double glazed)1.1–1.42.5–4.01.5–2.0

*Aluminium's raw thermal conductivity is high, but thermally broken (TB) profiles use a polyamide bridge between the inner and outer extrusions to disrupt the conduction path; that is why the whole-frame U-value (top row) is far lower than the raw material number suggests. Non-thermally-broken aluminium frames have whole-frame U-values of 5.0–6.0 W/m²K. Sources: WERS frame ratings, ASTM thermal conductivity tables, AAMA durability data.

Vladimir and the team did a fantastic job at our Edwardian house in St Kilda. They were organised, punctual and tidy! The double-glazed windows, a mix of tilt-and-turn and sliding, have made a huge difference to our house.

My window is a custom project with very thick glass. The main reason is reducing noise as much as possible. So the job done perfectly. The result is amazing. Thanks to Vladimir and Co.

Common Questions About uPVC Windows

What is uPVC and why is it used for windows?
uPVC stands for unplasticised polyvinyl chloride. It is a rigid, high-density polymer used for its dimensional stability and thermal performance. Unlike plasticised PVC, uPVC contains no softeners, which is why it does not warp, fade, or become brittle in Australian sun. The material is the dominant residential window frame across Northern Europe, where thermal performance is regulated tightly.
Are uPVC windows worth it in Melbourne?
Yes. uPVC windows in Melbourne typically reduce heating and cooling energy use by 20–30% compared to single glazed aluminium; the saving compounds across Melbourne's split climate of cold inland mornings and hot summer afternoons. The frames are immune to coastal salt corrosion, certified to BAL-40 for bushfire zones, and don't require repainting like timber. For most Melbourne homes, the energy savings repay the upgrade within 8–12 years and the windows last 30+.
How much do uPVC windows save on energy bills?
Independent modelling for Victorian homes shows uPVC double glazed windows reduce heating and cooling load by approximately 20–30% versus single glazed aluminium. On an average Melbourne household energy bill of $2,000–$2,500 per year, that's $400–$750 in annual savings. Triple glazed uPVC pushes the saving higher, particularly in the eastern hills where overnight lows are colder.
How long do uPVC windows last in Australia?
Modern Deceuninck Legend Art uPVC frames are rated for a 30+ year service life. The material is UV-stabilised with calcium-zinc compounds and titanium dioxide, so it does not yellow, embrittle, or chalk under Australian sun. Hardware (Siegenia / Roto mechanisms) is rated for 50,000+ open-close cycles. Sealed glazing units carry a 10-year manufacturer warranty against seal failure. They age better than most of us.
Do uPVC windows reduce outside noise?
Yes, significantly. Standard uPVC double glazed units achieve Rw 32–34, equivalent to roughly 25–30% less perceived noise than single glazing. Adding acoustic-grade laminated glass with asymmetric pane thickness pushes ratings to Rw 43–46 (around 70% less perceived noise), sufficient for properties under flight paths or fronting tram lines. Full acoustic specs are on our soundproof window page.
Can I get the frames in colour, not just white?
Yes. Solid colours include cream, silver grey, anthracite grey, and ash black. Woodgrain foils include golden oak and hazelnut. Dual-colour orders are common, including our latest cream-on-white combination, where the interior is white and the exterior is cream for a soft, classical facade.
Do your uPVC windows comply with NCC 7-star NatHERS?
Yes. Our standard double glazed unit (U-value from 1.1, SHGC 0.30–0.50) satisfies the NCC 2022 thermal requirements that took effect in October 2023 for new builds. For passive house projects or alpine zones, we recommend the triple glazed range (U-value from 0.8 W/m²K).
What's the difference between Deceuninck and other uPVC profiles?
Deceuninck is one of three major European uPVC extruders (alongside Rehau and Veka). Differences come down to chamber count, steel reinforcement geometry, gasket design, and stabiliser chemistry. Deceuninck's Legend Art 5-chamber system is what we use for Melbourne, because it balances thermal performance with the sash strength needed for our larger sliding panels.
